Lentil Cashew Ladoo (Urad Dal Ladoo), Indian sweet that is made from Healthy Lentils and flavoured with cardamoms. Healthy Sweet and Rich in protein.
Have I told you how much I love Indian Sweets? It’s amazing, seriously amazing dessert. Indian dessert is so unique. When I first tried it, I was amazed and fell in love directly at Indian dessert. I first tried it when I was in New Zealand to meet Dydy family. The first day we arrived, grandma gave me this dessert ball. It looks like a protein ball that they sell here in Sydney. The taste… it’s unbelievable. It’s the first time I tried something so rich like that. So sweet, delicious, and have this unique flavour that I don’t even know what is it.
The next day, grandma made another dessert with semolina flour. I am amazed how the healthy semolina flour can be used as dessert. When I tested it, I am blown away again. And, I finally found out where is that unique taste came from. It’s Cardamom. Suprise!! Cardamom is usually used in cooking curry. It has this strong flavour. Adding this to the dessert ??? Strange, but unique. I love it so much. I ended up eating most of the dessert that grandma made. It’s so addictive.
If you love dessert, and you haven’t tried Indian dessert, you are missing out so much. Indian making a dessert in the most strangest way I ever seen, and yet, it’s so delicious, that I would choose Indian dessert to France dessert. I’m sorry French dessert. Suprisingly, Indian dessert doesn’t get as much attention as French Dessert. I think, Indian need to broaden their marketing and showcase their dessert. The marriage of cardamom and dessert is absolute heaven. I couldn’t believe that I never tried any of Indian dessert before I went to NZ.
Today, I’m making Indian sweet ball that is made from lentils (urad dal), cashew and flavour with cardamom. I’m writing it right, it’s made from lentils, that is so rich in proteins. What I love about Indian dessert is that it is easy to make, easier than making a pastry.
For this lentils cashew ladoo (urad dal ladoo), it is important to dry roast the lentils until few shades darker, before grinding it into flour.
Keep checking the site, and I will post more amazing Indian sweets that will absolutely blown your mind. I couldn’t believe it takes me so long to finally try these sweets. - 5 green cardamom
- ½ cup cashews, roughly chopped
