This spicy crispy baked tofu makes a great alternative for healthy vegan appetisers. Tofu is coated with combination of panko breadcrumbs and spices.
You know that feeling when you don’t feel like eating meat because of meat overdose? Yes, I’m feeling that way now. We had so much goat meats, chicken, and etc for the past few days, and I’m so sick of meat.
However, if you are having that dilemma that veggies are not tasting as delicious as meat. You might just cook veggies in a wrong way. Veggies, especially Tofu can become really delicious depending on how you cook it. My favourite Tofu dish is Mapo Tofu, the classical Sichuan Spicy Tofu with minced meat. Another type of delicious tofu dishes, are Agedashi Tofu Chindian Style, stir-fry Black Pepper Tofu with Broccoli, and Korean Spicy Tofu Stew.
This spicy crispy baked tofu is inspired by chicken nuggets. This is how I like to make my chicken nuggets, by adding spices to my breadcrumbs, and baked the chicken. Today, instead of chicken, I make spicy crispy baked Tofu. The textures turn out really nice. It’s so crispy outside, and still creamy inside. I make this to go along with my hot and sour soup, perfect combination.
To add more flavour in my crispy Tofu baked, I added few extra species in the breadcrumbs, like chilli powder, coriander ground, and curry powder. This add so much flavour in the Tofu. Dydy like it just by itself, but I still prefer with ABC Extra Spicy sauce. For me, anything crispy won’t be completed without ABC extra spicy sauce.
Growing up in Indonesia, we love ABC Chilli Sauce Brand. I’m not promoting that brand now, I’m just trying to tell that once you try ABC Chilli Sauce, you don’t like other brands anymore. Moreover, it’s so ridiculously expensive compare to Indonesia. They are getting so much money from exporting ABC. In Indonesia, 1 bottle usually cost 1 dollar, and they are selling it for 4 dollar here in Sydney. It’s 4 times more expensive, just for the chilli sauce. Unfortunately, I grow too fond of the ABC chilli sauce, that I couldn’t do anything except paying 4 dollar for that bottle.
