Ingredients
  • 500g Chinese Broccoli (Gai Lan)
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 shallots, roughly chop
  • 3 garlics, roughly chop
  • 3 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Chinese rice wine
  • 3 tablespoon water
  • ¼ teaspoon sugar
  • ½ tablespoon sesame oil
Instructions
  1. Firstly, blanch the Chinese Broccoli by putting it in a boiling water, until it turns bright green color and cook through but still slightly crispy. Drain and put in cold ice water directly. Set aside while preparing the sauce.
  2. Heat up olive oil in a pan, add shallots and garlics until oil is infused with garlic and shallot smell. Be careful not to burn the garlic and shallot.
  3. Reduce the heat, and add oyster sauce, Chinese rice wine, water, sugar and sesame oil. Be careful that it will start to splutter if you add it to hot oil.
  4. Mix for few minutes until the sauce reach your desired consistency. Turn off the heat.
  5. Drain and arrange blanched Chinese Broccoli or Gai Lan in a plate. Pour the oyster sauce on top of the Gai Lan.
  6. Serve with steam rice.
